Julia directed the following initiatives at LIFT:
LIFT's first business sponsorship
London, a cross-sector city arts project and conference to strengthen support for LIFT, the arts and civic initiatives after
abolition of London's regional Government.
LIFT Business Arts Forum - a radical innovation in business relations and income generation - this
learning programme brought people together across sectors, cultures and generations to learn from Festival productions and
from one another.
LIFTING London and the LIFT Business Arts Forum were established
in association with the Financial Times and other private and public sector partners including BBC, BP, British
Council, Masterfoods and the Economist Group.
LIFT Lecture series - Imagining
a Cultural Commons - examined the role of culture and
its free exchange in social adaptation. Topics included bio and cultural diversity, intellectual property and cultural aspects
of moving to a post oil-peak economy. Speakers included Vandana Shiva, Lawrence Lessig and Jeremy Rifkin. Partners included
British Council, Morgan Stanley, London Hydrogen Partnership, London School of Economics.
Initiated Defining Values, a
seminar series devised in response to politicians' pleas to UK arts organisations to "get more American" in
their approach to fundraising. Devised and delivered in London and Newcastle
with Russell Willis Taylor (Arts Strategies, USA) and Anna Ledgard, Arts Educationalist and Producer.
The series was supported by Fidelity UK Foundation, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and NESTA.
